Hello,

I am pretty sure artistic nude is not allowed here, therefore no photos will be posted, but I am trying to find some ideas for some artistic nude shots I want to do. Everywhere I look, I see almost pornographic "artistic nude" that is too sexual for my taste. I prefer the use of shadows and black & white, sometimes with cloth or material etc not in sexual positions bending over etc... I looked around on deviant art and many many many of them are too sexual, any ideas where to look for inspiration?

artistic nude - Flickr: Search

Might be useful? But.. you will find a mix of some harsh stuff in there as well. Have you tried Deviant Art. com? About the same... some real talent mixed with smut.

Is there any types of sub-category of artistic nude? maybe something that sounds like what im searching for, more specific than "artistic nude".

gsgary would be the guy to ask if I remember correctly. There are actually a few people on here who might be able to point you in the right direction.

They don't want members posting nude photos here...but I don't see a problem if you just want to link to them. ;)

Try adding these terms to your search; bodyscape, figure study, simple nude.

I'm a fan of a site called domai.com. They advocate 'simple nudes'. They are nude photos of PYGs (pretty young girls) but they are far from pornography. But to be fair, only some of them are what I'd call 'artistic nudes'.

You might also check out the nude section of Photo.net

I hope I "safed" this one up enough for this site. If not I guess it will just get dumped. This is what I consider to be an "artistic nude".

"Artistic nude" probably has as many connotations as there are photographers. For me I guess at its most basic level, it is displaying the human form in a way that celebrates the beauty of the human body without having to be sexual. Amber is nude here but the image portrays her beautiful curves without being sexual. The image is all about the beauty of a woman's body.

If you look at a lot of the renaissance painters and how they portrayed a woman's body, that should give you an idea.

As an aside, the thing that gets my goad nowadays is how the definition of "glamour" has changed over the years. In the 40's and 50's glamour was all about lighting and pose and showing women at their most beautiful. Nowadays "glamour" is pretty much synonymous with "nude".
