Hi All,

I recently sold a lense and it was shipped internationally. The buyer contacted me saying the coating was damaged.

I'm unfamiliar with cameras and wondering if this is something that could have happened in transit. It wasn't this way when I shipped it. Also, is this a cheap fix or, in your opinion, should this person be fully or partially refunded?

I truly appreciate any help!

The buyer will need to research lens repair companies in whatever country they are in and get you an estimate.

Or;

Have them send it back and you send to a repair company.

The lens looks bad. I can't tell that much from the photo, but it looks like there might be liquid inside. If that is the case, that is very bad, and it is odd that the buyer only complained about the coating.

If properly packaged and handled, lenses can be shipped without being damaged.

So at this point, I would say this is a very odd situation and we are missing important information.

Lenses are generally not cheap fixes.

As they say in the medical trade, "pre-existing condition." Have to ask if the photo is theirs or yours. Highly doubtful what's shown resulted from shipping damage, so was there full disclosure of debris, dust, oil fog or fungus internally pre-sale? If not, then a refund is advisable.

How/where did you sell this lens? Do you have any photos before you sold/shipped the lens?

Hi All, thanks so much for your feedback and help on this. The seller and I were able to reach an agreement.
