These were both taken at around 2 AM, handheld. C&C Welcome.

The effect of the second is ... intriguing. Does not look like a photo ... more as if someone had put some branches onto a background on which they are noy lying ... what is it that created those black lines that now look like very close shadows, is that the effect of a tiny bit of camera shake or not fully synchronised flash (if that is how you say it?). Whatever it is: it creates a surreal and very intriguing effect!

And I am surprised to see all those shaking in the first but the sign all sharp, clear and totally unblurred. Yet, the light trails are all wavy and erratic.

Both shots were long exposures (around 3 seconds) and as i mentioned earlier, both were handheld.. The second shot i zoomed out gradually through out the entire exposure and then held still through the last second or so.. Both shots had a flash at the begining and a curtain flash at the end, that's how i froze the sign in the second one. The black shadowlike effect on the tree branches was caused by me moving slightly during the exposure and then the curtain flash firing at the end, they were not totally intentional but i like how it turned out. :)

gear for both shots:
Canon XTi
28-105 3.5
Canon 430ex
