RAW with no converter....

I have a rebel XT and I have the file type set to RAW, but I don't need a converter to open it. In fact, they show up as jepg. I went to menu>quality>RAW.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Have you checked that your not in RAW+JPEG and that your looking at the JPEGS whilst hte RAWs are located way at the bottom of the window (the order being set by file type as opposed to file name where they will appear side by side).

I don't understand what you're saying. I put it in RAW.

If your XT is like my XSi...

I though I had mine set to RAW, but it was set to L (with the stair step) because I thought both were on one line, rather than individually selectable, if that makes sense. If you are getting jpegs, you are not set to RAW.
What does the back of the camera say on the LCD?

Are you shooting in automatic or manual /Av/ Tv, it resets to jpeg for me too when i go to automatic
