I currently have a Manfrotto 190 aluminium tripod with a pan and tilt head that has a separate level on it. It is great help as I mainly shoot landscapes. However, I have been thinking of also getting a ball head and I checked out the RC 496. I think it looks pretty good, but I didn't see any level on it so I was wondering how you ball head shooters align the horizon line for landscapes, etc. Is it just this one ball head or am I missing something?

PS. I find the level on the tripod itself pretty useless as I rarely extend all three legs the same way.

So this confirms the Manfrotto ball heads have no level? How inconvenient!

You could just do it by eye and then make any fine adjustments in processing. That's the way I've always done it with both film and digital. Isn't it more trouble to fiddle with the level and tripod head trying to get it exactly right than to just tilt the cropping frame a tiny bit in processing? If you're a perfectionist about leveling you'll very often have to adjust it a bit in processing anyway.
