RE:- is the dof acceptable

This has been reduced to 5 x 7.5 cm and saved for the web at max resolution uploaded to VillagePhotos and then to here.

Is it any better ?

Your quality is still really bad. You can see it especially around the leaves of the plant - see the little 'waves' of colour? Maybe PhotoVillage compresses the photos itself.

Again, I think the DOF is very nice but the background is a tiny bit distracting.
