Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hey everyone- I've just done some senior photography, and I'd appreciate some C&C. These are only a few from the first location, we've got another few locations planned.
Everything has been shot on my D3s, with a Nikon 85 1.4 AF-S. I used a reflector for some of the photos, but had a few problems with the wind.

awesome.
but need to work on composition, subject is always on the center which is less attractive.

Thanks for your thoughts, I'll keep that in mind for tomorrow.

I like the last two (looks the best) the others seem off to me. over exsposed, lighting, skin tone or something just can't put a finger on it.

Could you define whats off? I'm just curious as I don't see much of a difference, disregarding the obvious Post changes.

They don't look very sharp for the equipment you were using

They "were" obviously plenty sharp; individual hairs are visible in many of the shots. BUT, they have been web-reduced in size down to TPF's 800 pixel maximum, and compressed pretty heavily...you know, the way people on photography forums in the twenty-first century want their images to be seen....tiny....and chitty...so that people with high-speed internet, quad-processor computers, and 22 to 30 inch monitors never have to worry that their 56k modems will take too long to serve up a jay-peg.....snort....

Kudos to you for using supplimental lighting. For portrait photography, lighting is the most critcal ingredient.

Having her legs dark in #1 and #3 looks really odd.

The hard edged shadow of her nose in #3 makes the nose look wider than it really is. For my taste the light was not high enough in #1 and #3, and needed a modifier to make it apparently much larger to soften the shadow edges and also light her arms and legs. The white balance makes her skin look way to orange for me.

The shots side lit by the sun could have used less lighing ratio and in #6 she is under exposed.

Someone else already mentioned the poor composition, the second most important ingredient in portrait photography.

What is a 56k modem do people still have them

No, nobody has a 56k modem any more Gary...but we still have the 800-pixel restriction on images AS IF we were still in the 56k modem era...I was trying to show how archaic this site's policy on images is...the rules prohibit showing photographs at a size that allows people to appreciate them, or to properly evaluate all types of technical considerations or technical flaws. Maybe if you re-read my answer above it will be clearer as to what sentiment I was trying to get across above...sometimes sarcasm doesn't translate when the electrons must cross the Atlantic (or so I have been told)! Cheers!

The photo's look pretty good. I agree about them being too centered. I just wanted to say, oh my god that lens. Beautiful.

Just got done editing some photos from a day or two ago, and took some of these comments into mind. Tell me what you think.
