Recreating Victorian Style Photographs

I have recently purchased a late 1800s large format baox camera. I was wondering if anyone knew how to use one of these and how simple or difficult it would be to recreate the photographic style of that time. Do conventional photography stores have plates or film that would work in these cameras? Also does one need a flash or just simply leave the shutter open?

I would appreciate any information !
