Remember when you first started photography?

I was one of the "Bigger camera the better" Yesturday, was at a wedding, and the there was a wedding opposite.
The photographer opposite had two camera, both with huge lenses (must have been telephoto) and everything, all clumsy.
Ive learnt from my boss, also my sensei :p, that the bigger lens will just get in the way, and he was right as I watched this guy getting shots from miles away...

Well, LittleMan, my first career was as a microbioligist in a Hospital specialising in infections of the gastro-intestinal tract. I can assure you that there isn't a lot in it - it's just different crap, is all

I ran into the telephoto blunder as well. I learned that the eye perceives a lot more than the film. Figuring out that "I was the best telephoto" saved me a lot of money in the early days.

I was 17 when I was given an SLR at school. Didn't buy my own until my 20th birthday.

Good times.

My first camera used 127 Roll film....

Steve

ok this is funny.. i used to think that a f22 would help me eliminate/blur the bg and a f4 would keep the bg sharp ...
 :D :D :D

Explaining to my mother why at thirteen I got to spend a hour a day at school in a dark room full of girls. Trying to figure out why its so hard to roll a single film canister in a black bag has anything to do with getting a image. And I think the funniest thing was when I told my mom we needed to buy pringles so I could build a camera... my mother didn't really buy into it but we got a bunch of pringles and some cool pinholes which my mother wondered why I kept out of focus images with such pride.

Ahhhhh.... The good old days. Everything manual and no photoshop... just hours on end sitting under a red light.

When I was thirteen. I got a digital camera because well, I had always been interested but I thought getting the film developed was a rip off (I mean, you have to pay for the film and then again to get it developed)
So at first I only wanted to use the auto and I used zoom to get shots of things up close. I used the digital zoom so it all sucked.

I use to think a slr was a different kind of camera and took different film than 35mm cameras. :0) I had no idea aperatures existed. This was just a few years ago.
