Photos NOT OK to edit
If you dont know, Maynard Ferguson, a very famous Jazz Trumpeter passed away 2 days ago. As a Jazz trumpeter, Im of course sad for the loss, but his death marks something else in the world of jazz. He one of the last people from his era, and most certianly he was the last of the Jazz Great's as far as trumpet plays go.
Louie Armstrong, Dizzy Gilespie, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Cliff Brown were the dominant voices and leaders of Jazz from the start in the 1900's well into the 1980's and now the people who invented jazz and made it an art form are gone.

It makes me sad to listen and copy all these people yet i'll never get to hear most of them. (a really big thing to jazzers)

so i took this photo of my trumpet today...as sorta a tribute to Maynard

edit... Maynard is most famous for his work with The Stan Kenton Orchastra, and The rocky theme song

Sick shot, fitting tribute...not familiar with him or his stuff (who did he work with over the years?), but the era of which he played in (big band, mostly) is something I absolutely love.
