Removed the lens flare (ericbarkers pic)

Been lurking here for a while but dont post often. But I was hoping someone could suggest a technique that might work well for removing the lens flare from this shot.

Huge spot right in the upper middle of the frame.

My attempt (I used spot healing brush ...in photoshop cs3 its a picture of a band-aid

)

You can notice a difference in the trees in the middle, from the original pic....I hope its good enough though

I think that may have actually made it more noticeable.

I'd take the original over the edit. The edit is very distracting, my eyes are imediately drawn to the super bright green bush in the middle. It is a very well posed image, very cool.

To edit out the lens flair I would've airbrushed the blue areas around the bush (that looks like it should almost be black) and layer maske the bush with hue/saturation and color balance untill it matched the surrounding bushes.

If you want I can edit it for you, if I had the original image of course and you didn't mind.
