In an effort to reduce the drive-by spammers, a forum I am on has instituted a policy where a new member have to have at least 5 posts before they can post a hyperlink. This small step has had a tremendous impact on spam reduction. Just this evening I see we have been hit at least 3 times by spammers.

Perhaps the management can consider something similar here?

also maybe could be certian fourms that have a miniual posting requriment
Also spam posting should result in a ban
I DK if that is the police here ive not been here long

what forum sections are you thinking of TUX? I know LP has support the idea of areas such as the meetups being viewable to registerd members only (that is any registered member, not just the subscribed ones)

Also spam posting should result in a ban
heck even Relic News forums is not that strict! This place would be like a ghost town in moments!

i wasn't thing of a any fourm really
i belong to a hackers forum called mango 12
and spam results in a ban and u need to be a member to run there program
i dont want to go anyfarther but ya Mango 12 is that strict

All the blatant spammers who hit TPF get banned for life on the spot. At last count, I've already taken out 450 of them and won't be stopping any time soon. Given the number of registered members, that's only a very small percentage of the normally well adjusted people who post on a regular basis, and it has little if any impact on the normal traffic for the site.

ahh those sorts of spammers ;)
right I get you now
