My daughter, nearly 3, went for her assessment at Barnsley Riding for the Disabled this morning. She loved it! We were expecting her to be a little difficult as she doesn't like to feel "insecure", but it was great!

I, being me, obviously took the camera along...:)

Thank you...that is exactly what she was doing. :) In fact just before this she signed "Thank you" to Whispers the pony. :)

She is so lovely and adorable
Please convey my love to her

:D

Will do. Thank you. :)

Thank you. I will pass on the thumb! :)

Thank you. Yes, she will be going back next week...it's really good for her confidence, and her physical needs - helps build her muscle strength and so on. And she Loves it! :)

Love them, particularly the last one. Really captures both the wonder and the innocence of the moment. I'd say photographically the last one is the strongest, but I'd imagine your personal connection to each of the others is just as great.

The last would look nice on a frame on your desk, or on a wall in the house. Well done.

Yes, you're right...I have an obvious strong connection with them all, over and above the photographic quality...but I do appreciate your thoughts. We may well be printing the odd one of these. :)

Cheers

I was on my ipod when I viewed the pictures the first time so I didn't see your note above the image about "thank you" ... you captured it perfectly :) Thanks for sharing such a special moment with us.

Oh, I also like the emotion that is reflected in the last one sooo much. Her respect, not fear, and her wanting to pat "Whisper's" nose, sooo nice.
And isn't it nice to see how children learn when they get the chance to do something all new?
They may well be a little "reserved" at first, not happy to "being 'insecure'", as you put it, and then they notice: "Hey, this isn't too bad, after all, actually this is FUN!"
Your photos tell all that!

Thank you all. It was a lovely day, a lovely moment...and I'm glad I took my camera. :)

Just an outstanding series of pictures. I personally love pics # 2 & 6. both convey such personal emotion.

What an awesome thing! I have heard many stories about riding horses and the disabled. My wife was disabled in a car wreck many years ago, and she has missed horseback riding terribly. I think the human/horse bond can be strong, and a small child in command and astride of a 1,600 pound animal can bring a sense of empowerment that is simply unattainable in any other way...

Thank you so much for sharing these with us here at TPF. My heart swells with pride in you and your fatherly love for this darling little one.
