Roses sans flowers

Yesterday working in the garden we finished chopping up all the rose cuttings from the pruning that was done earlier. The bushes have already begun leafing out nicely. I really like the way the leaves start out red and change to green as they mature.

Yeah, a nice vision moment you spotted there. It's true..they start out red, then change to green!!! 10 years ago, in February of 2003, I took a shot of a rose outside in the back yard...it was a beautiful red coloration...the rose variety is named Cecilly Brunner (I think I am spelling that correctly). It was a climbing variety, and had loads of beautiful,small,pink blooms peaking the first half of June.

I have always enjoyed roses. They're a very popular photographic subject.

Thanks. That's a lovely shot you got there.

They're a lot of work and those thorns -- ouch! But the flowers can be incredible. My wife has seven varieties in the garden this season.
