My daughter Ruby had to dress in Red/White/Blue today for the Queen's Diamond jubilee at school (they are on holiday now, so they had their parties today). I took her to the studio for a couple of shots because I thought she looked nice...Ruby likes to pose, but will never do as she's told...so I got what I could!

Hope you like 'em. :)

I still think that girl has the most beautiful eyes!

I love her smile in the third one, but the last one is my favorite, because it shows off those eyes so well.

One tiny nitpick, though: In both the first and last photos, there is just the tiniest bit of her skirt showing and it just looks like something blue stuck to her arms.

She's cure, technically well done

IMO, the background is so bright that it attracts the eye and she is a bit too bright also.
Note how the tops of her arms are the brightest skin in the image.

Thank you, and she does have wonderful eyes...if I can get her eyes in shots, I always do. :)

In my learning curve of studio lighting I have reached a point where I am fairly consistent with the white background...I need to move on to something else too, so I have more methods at my disposal. In these I needed to increase contrast a little in her dress etc, and drop the highlight in the skin a little. I think I need to soften the lights more in the studio, too.

Thanks.

Nice crop. Wonderful eyes!!!

My crops are all the same in my studio shots, with people asking for prints being the reason. One or two of these would be better with a crop off the top...agreed. :)

Beautiful girl...definitely does have a nice set of eyes. I am struggling to choose a favourite, as I do like them all.

Nice pictures. Very well done. What are you using for lighting? Where did you position your lights

Thanks.

I have 2 studio flash lights. One is behind my left shoulder, about 5m from the backdrop with a shoot-through umbrella. The other is close to the BG camera right, softbox, flagged with DIY flags, and reflected from the left with (DIY) polystyrene reflectors to even out the BG lighting. The lights are tricky with only 2 settings for power, and minimal distance allowing changes to the power by moving them.

Cheers
