Hi all, finally got around to sorting through mine after a hectic couple of weeks - I didn't take many, I don't think that fields and sheep and **** inspire me that much, but it was good to meet up with old faces and new ones as well!

so, where do we start, well as I wasn't allowed o have a drink due to being on long range driving duty, I didn't take any pictures at the pub - however once the eating and drinking amongst the sheep droppings got into full swing, nobody knew which way to look...

looking from the other direction, there was still confusion around what to actually look at...

Colin decided that as no-one was looking, he would see if he could get some action

this was all too much for Jeff, who decided to sit under a tree, the locals thought this highly unusual as they had never seen anyone sit under a tree before and started to imagine what it would be like if they too could find the courage to sit under a tree - they had heard stories of Isaac Newton, and didn't want any of that stuff happening to them!

Just then, I spotted Fangman utilising his military training on an unsuspecting soldier who had the wrong camouflage on for his surroundings - I believe he uses a cannon - poor, poor marine :(

a splinter cell of the TPF group stopped to discuss what was on the other side of the wall "tis the end of the earth" said Hertz, a true rutlandian who has been rumoured to have a third nipple and eats apples from the core outwards. Jerry didn't believe him, so hertz showed him his nipple - the look on his face!

The local fishermen hadn't quite worked out that fishing with nets is normally better when you go for fish...

after viewing Hertz's third nipple, the slow group headed towards some sheep who, knowing the locals, always kept their backs to the water...

one of the fishermen mistakenly hooked a fish, his mate hung his head in disgust - that could have been a duck! if I had half a church I, I....

oh....

Word had got about that there were some americans and canadians around, and being the obliging people that they are, the local rutlandians added a touch of the mississippi to what is a flooded field - much like New Orleans but without the hookers

After Jeff and I safely arrived in Oakham, we proceeded directly to the Admiral Hornblower Inn for a late lunch, where we were joined by Hertz, Tangerini, Chris of Arabia and Anne-Marie. We then wandered over to Oakham Castle. Actually, it's the great hall of a Norman castle, the hall dating from c. 1180-90. It is the earliest hall of any English castle surviving so completely. It was a custom that visiting nobility who visited the town had to pay a forfeit in the form of a horseshoe, and the interior of the hall is filled with over 200 ceremonial outsized horseshoes, most bearing the date they were donated. According to Wikipedia the earliest datable one is an outsize example commemorating a visit by King Edward IV in about 1470.

The gate to the castle (note the horseshoe symbol)

Whilst everyone else was photographing the Great Hall of Oakham Castle, I wandered up the earth bank surrounding it and grabbed this - not quite the majesty of a great hall maybe...

Well Oakham is a great metropolis so you will find low life as well as high.
And if you don't believe that the town is the throbbing centre of the universe, just take a look at rush hour...

Jeff and Anti searching for Avis.
I had assured them that I had buried him somewhere in the vicinity, but they never found him.
