Sanctuary Marsh at sunset last night. :)

I was so happy to return to shooting nature, and not projects for school. For once in the last 2 months, I've gotten to take a photo via my own motivation, and not the demands of my prof :p

Gorgeous, love the background refelctions off the water, the yellows and golds are awesome. And I really like the fill flash used to light up the plants in the foreground..well done Matt

That is a breathtaking shot, Matt!! The light is just awesome. What a beautiful image.

Wow, dude....awesome shot. This is a framer.

Thanks everyone :)

I didn't use fill flash. I used a 1 stop graduated neutral density filter, and bracketed a bit. This was the best exposure. I "dodged" the reflection of sky in the water a bit, to bring it out more, and added the edge burn. This is two different conversions of the raw file, one with the color temp all the way to 100k, for the bright orange/yellow sky, and another with a colder, bluish/magenta tone, for the bottom part. I placed the bluish tinted version as a layer on top of the other, and used the gradient tool to fade it in.

Question: This looks VERY dark on my monitor at work, but not nearly as dark at home. It "should" have lots of shadow detail around the bottom, and a clear bluish/magenta tone.

Do you guys see that? I might have to recalibrate my monitor at home otherwise. My work monitor is always darker though.

It looks o.k on my work monitor, but it is always dark...work is cheap, so we have cheap monitors. I will check my two home computers tonight. I can see the shadow detail enough here, but the tones on this monitor are dark. Still love it tho.

Gorgeous Color from that sunset hitting the water, Beautiful photo
