Sandhill Cranes & colt

A few weeks ago I posted some pics of the Sandhill Crane and her eggs. I went past there yesterday morning to find she was no longer on the nest, the parents and at least one colt is what I found. The grass is very high, the lighting was not great as I couldn't get on the correct side so these shots are more just for the record. There were two eggs but now only one colt.

Cool pictures! A couple of years ago a friend of mine had a baby sandhill crane following her around while she was at work. I guess it thought she was her mom.

They are neat birds. I look forward to seeing them back up here in a month or two!

Hunter, very nice shots and good update. I think the first one - family portrait - is my favourite. Also, I learned something here - I did not know that baby Sandhill Cranes were called colts. Thanks for the education.
