These photos are from this March, when the Sandhills cranes made their annual stopover here in Nebraska. What's weird is that I've lived in this area for almost six years, and it never occured to me until this year to do shoot the cranes. It's well worth the time! EXIF data should be in all of the files. All, except for the snowy sunset, were shot with a Canon 300 2.8 and a 1.4x converter. The snowy sunset was shot with a crappy Sigma 28-110. All were with a Canon EOS 20D.

Thanks for looking. :)

wow that must have been a great thing to witness! I missed out on our migrations here...maybe in the fall I'll get a chance.

Beautiful pics!

I am so in awe!
These are all so impressive.
Photo 1 throws me all over ... how come that big sun wasn't totally and hopelessly blown-out?
I also love Photo 6 very much, though I must say they are all good, but that one appeals to me because of its colour distribution and the fact that a couple of cranes are walking across that snow-covered corn field, and a couple of others are flying past the sun Photo-1-style. Very, very good.

that's a lot of birds, nice shots...
