It looks like Sony is making room for the next generation of NEXs. According to the rumor sites, Sony will introduce several new mirrorless cameras before the end of the year (to include a mirrorless full frame A mount camera(!)).
That may explain why the entire Sony NEX line is marked down at Amazon until the end of August. From the $440 NEX-3N to the $798 NEX-6 with the 16-50mm power zoom, these are great prices for pocketable cameras with DSLR-sized sensors.

Again, they won't last long at these prices.
