Scanning old pictures for the best quality

Well why did you think it would be much smaller? TIFF is loseless so it's going to be big there.

The small photos were around 40-150mb. The medium in the 200s. I have no 8x10 of old photos.

I did a test 8x10 at 600dpi and I think it was around 240mb.
