A couple of us were asked to go record this school which after 88 years is slated for demolition this summer. Everything is as it was left by the kids just the other day. It had a funny layout. If you walk in the front door you walk right up into the gym. Offices are in back so you enter the school by the back door. It was an interesting shoot with all sorts of light, but nothing very bright.

The images are really kinda' flat, and the composition seems... haphazard. For instance, in image #1, it appears as though there's a starboard list. Correct that (a simple adjustment in Photoshop), and that shot will look okay...

Considering what I've seen of your work before, this is pretty disappointing. It even seems as if you were not very interested in this project. So much so that I agree with Steve5D's comment about "...the composition seems... haphazard."

So, I can't help and wonder why you are showing it here... :(

True, this is not the most exciting place. But you also are a person who likes HDR. And I don't mean to say you should have used HDR here, I just mean you know how to add interest to some otherwise fairly mundane thing. You could have made an effort, worked up a little intellectual sweat

And I'm fascinated by the possibilities of the first image. I find the color in the shadow of the doorway incredible since I don't see any color in the actual glass. It may just be me going blind but, if not, I ould have found a way to play this.

All three images are only lit by indirect sunlight. In the first shot the colors on the wall was made by the dirt on the glass. I didnt like a single thing about this school and Im really surprised it lasted as long as it did. It was dingy, dirty and depressing. I felt that as soon as I walked into the place. I hope the pics reflect that. As for composition, well my objective was to record the rooms, not to create works of art from the sunlight on the walls. Like them or not, they are exactly as I saw them but I do agree they are a bit flat. I have since added contrast to the lot and it improved them while at the same time losing detail in the highlights.

That is exactly why we need to share and explain things here. So that we can get into each other's minds and explore the lack of opportunities, :)
