Can anyone recommend a sturdy tripod that meets the following needs?

--light enough to be carried by a petite person on lengthy hiking trips
--legs that can be adjusted for ground level shots

I have read about Bogen (Will the "low-level adapter" for the center column allow for CONVENIENT ground level photos?) and Gitzo tripods, but I want to make sure that I am not missing any gems. :?

Any comments/suggestions would be most welcome!!!!!!
Thanks!

Follow the link in the above post to an on-going discussion related to your request. But first determine how much are you willing to spend. Ounce for ounce, the lighter weight and stable tripods cost big bucks. Also consider that the typical Gitzo is twice the cost of Manfrotto.
