I'm trying to make a collection of photographs capturing my emotions and feelings through self portraits. This is what I have so far, any suggestions? See You At the Bitter End Don't Give Up on the Dream Spite and Malice Without You I'm Nothing Keeping Quiet Playing Dumb
I like the ideas! Just one little bit of conts. crit.- Before I was a photographer, I was a painter (protraits/art not houses!). When you're creating every little part of the painting, you learn exactly how light affects people. It's common to think that when light fades into darkness on a person, it just gets darker. It doesn't. There's a whole lot of color play in the area between highlight and shadow on a face. With normal light, there'll be pink, red, brown, orange, and yellow. Take a look at your last image. Where the light transitions on your nose, there's the nice color play. But where you edited it, it goes from highlight to grey to black. Have a look: I recommend next time you use color to blend the shadow and see how it looks. Use the rest of the blending on the face as an example and try to recreate it. Hope this helps! Good work, keep it up!
