This is my first self portrait. Please critique.

Well, there's nothing interesting about it.

The lighting is flat, The image isn't sharp, the background is busy and wasn't taken into account, and you're not doing anything. It's just a straight on headshot.

It looks like a crappy myspace shot.

Try going somehwere where you can have light shining on either side of your face to give it depth, consider including your entire body in the shot, use props, go to the The Artsy Fartsy self portrait thread and look at the really good submissions and grab ideas from them.
