Sharp Shinned Hawk

Well it's about time I got a shot of this guy!! We got some wonderful sun today so I was shooting the songbirds trying to get some BIF shots and all of a sudden the Jays made a warning call and took off. I looked around for who scared them up and didn't see anyone, went to the other side of the house and all the birds in the grapevines were frozen in place making no movements at all, I knew whoever it was was still around. I got to the other side and this guy flew up from a pine out front into this tree. WOOHOO!!

It's cold again today, in the -30 range and he like the wee songbirds was roosting on one foot.

Cute little guy Pix. It's amazing the range of these hawks and when and if they decide to migrate. I just saw one of these a few weeks ago here in Southern California.

Very nice capture. We have one of these guys in the area; he was sitting on the fence out back this morning waiting to swoop in and feast on some of the song birds at the feeders again...... :er:
