Needed something fast for the kids soccer game so the guy at the shop sold me some Delta 3200. Some research later and it seems it's recommended to shoot it at 1200 and then process at times shown for 3200. Seemed strange but did it as suggested.

Would have liked a bit more DOF for easier focusing on the run, shot the roll in a K1000 with a Tokina 70-210, 1/500, f 8 - 12 depending on the zoom. Light was full early evening sun and a bit harsh. Used my tripod (folded) like a monopod.

Negatives looked a bit thin but scanned nicely, not too grainy.

Learned to appreciate the skill required for sports photography.

When I shoot Delta 3200 in normal sunlight conditions I rate the film at 1600 (film speed test done on a Pentax MX w/50mm 1.7), then I use Kodak X-Tol, stock, 6:15 min at 68F. I'm very happy with these results.
I also like to shoot at night rated at 12500 or 25000. Again I use X-Tol, 20-30 min at 68F.

Here is more good info...... Ilford Delta 3200 Hand-Held in Low Light and at Night Analog Film Photography

Thanks again for the info. Great to get help like this from someone who has used this film.
Have to try the night shots.

Thanks for this thread and links. I bought two rolls of the 3200 in 120. Shot one in the Holga so who knows what that is rated at (I like to live on the edge ;) ) but haven't developed it yet. It might be nice to be a bit more deliberate with the next roll.

Should be interesting in the Holga, might be a bit fast unless you shot in low light. Also interesting to see how Delta 3200 cooks in caffenol. Just maybe waste a frame or two and cut off the first few inches to develop separately, give you an idea how to time the rest.
As an aside, keyed my grandkid on the D line on shots 1 -3, thanks to great coaching and a couple of hot strikers like #10, team finished the season undefeated.
