When I shoot thethered to my Mac book using Lightroom -- the images show up on my Mac book for processing in Lightroom -- but they are not stored on my camera card
Us there a way to do both?

Nope. The computer is in control.

If you wanted to, you might be able to 'upload' the images from your computer to the camera, but you'll need to do that manually. Unless you write a macro.

If you don't need to review it in Lightroom specifically and are just wanting to control the camera and preview the image you just took on a large computer screen, then you can download Nikon's SDK and write a little program that will allow you to control and preview all of your images on your computer screen AND store on your mem card.

If all you want is to see the shot on an external monitor, just hook it up through the HDMI connection.
