Should I be worried??

Too many crazies around.

I'm not doing this professionally so I keep mine for friends and family only.

LOL, this reminds me of another strange person that was discussed on another board where I am a member discussing selling kids clothing on ebay....there was a seller concerned because this guy bought some very tiny baby flip flops and after she saw some of his nasty feedback (by nasty I mean, perverted) she looked at his about me page and was horrified!!! He had a fetish for baby thong flip-flops to wear....so gross!

There are some strange people out there, no way to avoid running into them every once in awhile. I don't think the hand thing would be a threat, but now small children???? Now that is scary!!!!

exactly, there is no illegal material on flickr anyway. so if someone likes a special sub-selection of images, why not?

people should just calm down and not consider everything to be perversion driven.
Lots of old ladies like images of young small girls, you can hear them scream "Awww how cute" in pitched high voices while having their tea. Most of those will not be perversion driven either. ;)

And lets face it, even if one of them image collectors is a pedophile, if the images are legal, he is not doing anything illegal at all.
Assuming too much here is just as stupid as assuming every man collecting images of nude women is a rapist.

just my opinion :)

I agree with Alex B here (you are very down-to-earth).

I think that you need to be careful, but let's look at the context. Who really cares if someone collects pictures of hands. If he starts trying to contact you or something and sends you weird emails, you might want to set him to ignore or something similar (I'm not a member so I'm not familiar with Flickr), and maybe report him at that point to Flickr, but I wouldn't let it worry me too much even if it might be a little weird.

Regarding the collector of little girls, I must admit I would be a little suspicious at first, especially if it was my little girl in his collection, but I still try to give people the benefit of the doubt unless I know they are absolutely up to something...too many people jump to conclusions right away. Too often we are living in fear.

It's funny you should mention this incident; I had the same thing happen to me and got banned from Deviantart! LOL! www.kajuah.deviantart.com ;) go see for yourselves !

The case in question with me is I called this guy a pedophile who had favorited a picture of my little sister who was about 14 at the time. He had NOTHING but pictures of - get this - underaged girls in provocative positions and literal pages and pages of nudes/porn.

The admins of the site said it was a felony for me to call someone a pedophile without proper evidence because according to law that's slander and they can't have me calling someone a pedophile without evidence! Helloooo?

It disturbs me and sickens me how we share the world with such filthy people.

He may well have favorited those images but none of them were illegal (I'm assuming, since you didn't specifically mention CP). Therefore there was really nothing you needed to do but mind your own business.

Don't put images on the internet if you don't want people to see them.

Thanks guys, I now know not to setup a flickr account.

Or Deviantart. Or Facebook. Or myspace... Don't post any photos here either, or any other photography forum. Better not email any either, they might get forwarded on inadvertantly, or by a virus. Heck, best way to be safe is just unplug your modem / router right now, and burn it....

All TIC, but you get the general idea? It's the internet. It's a public domain. Even your own private website with pics for Mum, Dad and Sis can be viewed by other people, learn to deal with it and live with it, and don't post anything you don't mind the world seeing.
