Hey all,

I'm a bit confused by these two lenses. A friend asked me why was one double the other, and at first glance I was going to give her the "oh, well, one is variable aperture and the other isn't, the latter being better quality, yadda yadda yadda"... but then when I clicked the links, the variable aperture one is the more expensive! So what am I missing?

Thanks!

Trevor

Just a guess but I assume the more expensive one has more glass in it? It is heavier, more elements and groups.

The DG lens is for full frame and crop sensor cameras. The DC lens is for crop sensor only so it is made with smaller chunks of glass that are easier to grind and hence cheaper to make.

Yeah, you got your answer, the 12-24 is a FF lens, but you're also missing a much cheaper 10-20 version with variable
apertura also for crop sensors on your list.
