Hi Everyone. New to the site & this is my 1st posting and I need your help. My dad just got this at a garage sale for 50 cents! & I want to know if I can use it in any way with my Pentax K200D ? Or is it just a keepsake?? Thanx
More keepsake than anything else. It can be used with modern cameras but it requires some special adapters. The big issue is that old flashes like this have very high voltage trigger circuits. That is, the voltage on the PC terminal that connects to the camera is very high, usually in the 300-500 volt range. Modern flashes have low voltage, 3-15 volts, trigger circuits. If you simply adapt your camera to accept a PC cord (e.g. by getting one of the plain hot shoe adapters that slip into the shoe and have a PC terminal) you will likely fry the circuits in the camera. You need to use one of the specialized isolation curcuit devices (somebody step in here and provide so brand/model info) or one of the wireless remote trigger devices that can handle high voltage flashes.
