This is the sister of a child whose picture I had posted before. Even children work in the rural areas. She was pounding the tall grass on the asphalt to get the seeds off and then rolling it into bundles to make thatched roofs.

Along highways in every town are laid out bundles of thatch, drying.

I would have cropped this tighter but I wanted to keep the thatch in the picture. (The bike belonged my traveling buddy; he was 6'8" and attracted a lot of attention)

That's interesting, where is this exactly?

On Route 3 in Northern Laos, 13 km from Muang Sing and close to the Chinese/Burmese border. This is the best paved road in Laos, done by China because there is a lot of activity across that border with China. We were staying in Luang Namtha and took a day to go up to Muang Sing.

Wow, I learn lots from you-about photography, and the world. Neat picture. I can't beleive they have such a different life from the kids that age here that I know!
