Sleeping Beauty

This is not what you are thinking, its a pen, a fountain pen.
This is a limited edition fountain pen I bought for my daughter, when she will be big enough to appreciate the pen and use it I will give it to her and in the mean time its sitting in my fountain pen collection.
The pen is called Monteverde Sleeping Beauty LE.
It even got a beautiful pen box.

Anyways I hope you will like the picture and feedback will be appreciated too.
I took 2 sets of pictures with flash and without, everybody voted for the one with the flash so here it is.

Well, it is lit well but I guess for me it's just a document photo albeit a good one.

I know its not exactly a catalogue quality pic but I am working on my skills

After getting my camera back its a world of differnce in regards to picture sharpness but as I said I am still learning.

Am I beating a dead horse by saying it looks soft on both ends of the pen?

I focused at the centre of the pen to get the ring details crisp but that caused the ends to be soft.
I used f4.5 which I understand now is too shallow.
If I would have taken the shot with the pen sitting streight and not on an angle that would make the pic sharper but less interesting.
Next time I will raise the apature in hope to get more DOF.
