Ok i did something dumb...

I put rechargable batteries in my Olympus Winder 2 for my Olympus Om-2,
and it stopped working, so to test the power supply i plugged in an ac plug into my car and into the 4-6v dc socket.
I turned it on.
it started making slow whining moving noise, but then it started smoking from the winder.
I unplugged it and turned it off, I haven't even tried to put new batteries in to try it again,
my question is, is it just ruined? or should i try new batteries,
should i get it fixed?

:confused::gah:

ok new normal batteries didnt work so its broken,
so i opened it up (more bad ideas!) and located a single part on the circuit board that is fried.
now i just have to read the repair manual and figure out what part it is and I'll try to replace it.
i have experience in welding circuit boards

turns out it was a 22uf capacitor,
does that make sense?
would that blow first?

On a circuit board anything could blow first. In turn that could cause something else to blow. Just remember the second rule of engineering: "Keep the blue smoke inside the wires."
