I have a Sprintscan 4000 which I would like to use with my new iMac (Snow Leopard, OS 10.6.5). Does anyone have successful experience with this scanner and latest OS? My searches have only turned up descriptions of earlier configurations.
It looks like I will have to use a Ratoc FR1SX (SCSI to Firewire) converter, along with the latest VueScan version. Silverfast does not indicate support for OS 10.6.
I'd really like to know if this configuration will work well before spending $160 on converter and Vuescan.
Or, are there any new(er) scanners anyone recommends that I could pick up for not much more $$ that will outshine the Polaroid? I am principally scanning 35mm color slides, and occasionally color and b/w negs.
