So No D80, but I have a problem

Well, I decided not to upgrade, but now of course I have a problem with my camera. It will no longer auto-focus. I have the kit lens (18-55mm) and then I recently bought the 50mm f1.8 lens which I can only manual focus with anyway. I just switched my lens back over to the 18-55 and now it won't autofocus. I tried an 18-70 lens that my boyfriend owns and it autofocuses fine. Any suggestions?

The kit lens is a cheap plastic lens. It is not a suprise that it didn't last very long. If it is under warranty, send it in. If it isn't replace it.

Just for the heck of it, turn off the camera and remove the lens and battery and hold down the shutter button for a bit with the battery still out.

Replace the lens and battery. Turn the camera on and see if it will focus.

Any alternative lens suggestions? I was looking at the 18-135 and the 18-200 VR. I'm leaning towards what 18-200... Any other suggestions?
