Some Advice please

Well I'm a very arty, nature-y, landcape, non human photographer.
Never shoot people, And I'm really looking to start.
I've been reading around on people photography so please could someone give me basic advice for shooting people. Portraits in specific.

Focus on the eyes. Don't give damn about anything else. Well, you don't want boogies in the shot, but make sure the focus on the eyes is DEAD-ON!
