I have a Nikon F100, 24-120mm lens (VR version), and an SB-28.

I am looking for an inexpensive bag that offers general protection (that is, it has padding), protection against the elements (that is, rain), that is also as small as possible (so it can be inconspicuous), and can be used with a shoulder strap (that is, not a belt-only bag). (Room for more film would also be nice.)

Would a Kata PB-48 fit the bill? Is there enough room for everything?

I guess I could always just return it if it isn't big enough.

I'm not opposed to carrying the flash in my pocket, but I'd rather just be able to stick it in the bag, along with the camera.

Also, when using a UV filter to protect a lens, is it necessary to put a lens cap on it, or should I be alright if I just forgo it? (The cap that came with my lens doesn't seem to play nice with the filter.)

Thanks. :)

Well, I ended up ordering that PB-48 to see how it is. If it's too big, I'll check out the PB-44.
