Taken while hanging over the edge of a small boat whilst enjoying a late-evening harbour-tour in Torquay, Devon, in July 2000:

My wife's brother with his then one-year-old daughter Lucy, taken at Blackpool's amusement park, Pleasure Beach, in October 2001:

A high-key B&W shot of my then 16-year-old niece Caroline, taken in Summer 2002. It was originally in colour, but she preferred it in B&W, so that's how it stayed. This was used as a publicity-shot for a demo-tape she was sending off to various record companies at the time. She thought she was the new Britney Spears, and in truth she wasn't too bad a singer, but it all fell flat on its face two months after taking this shot when she accidentally fell pregnant to her boyfriend. Ah well, yet another promising career in tatters 'cos someone couldn't keep their clothes on; how many times do you see that happening!

I found this building while walking along the beaches at Gibraltar in November last year. I take it to be some kind of mosque:

Spring blossom on the branches of trees in Stanley Park, Blackpool. Taken last April:

My then two-year-old twin boys and their mum photographed last May in our back garden:

The River Avon as it runs through the historic city of Bath, Somerset. I liked this picture when I took it in October, as there was no sun or harsh shadows to spoil it, and I liked the misty horizon. Now, I feel there's too much expanse of empty water in the foreground, with not much happening. None the less it makes a peaceful 10x8 on my living-room wall:

All photos taken on Olympus OM4Ti & 50mm F/1.8 with various Kodak slide films, & scanned on an Epson Photo RX500 printer/scanner combo.

Thanks for looking

Never fret, John. This happens.
To me, it's the first I see of your photos.
But to give you an overall view of my "critiquing approach" here (very personal one, for I can only speak for myself): I often hestitate MUCH to be the first to say something in answer to someone's photos. Or it much depends on my mood: have I come to TPF just to "get my fix of new photos"? Or have I come to communicate? I can never tell beforehand. It just so happens: one day I feel this, the other day I feel that...

As to your photos:
Apparently you know what you're doing and you can even do specialised "jobs" such as portrait photography. I can't do that.

Such a pity to hear that this budding career got stopped short through something budding...

As to your twins' photo: a pity to see their feet "cut off".

The sky of Gibraltar is stunningly blue - it was the same when I was there, which is AGES ago! Can't say I've seen that mosque, though.

The cherry blossoms could have been my photo, only would I have tried to get closer to the one in focus and thus leave out of the photo some of the distracting "framing", which I personally only find distracting.

Maybe my words will now start a flood of posts!?!?!?

Thanks for your reply, LaFoto :)

Regarding the blossom, I couldn't get any closer with my standard F/1.8 without picking a smaller aperture which would have lost the bokeh effect; I suppose I could enlarge and crop.

Regarding my twins' missing feet, that's a sore point! The developing & cutting machine must have been having a bad day because the film that shot was from had half-a-dozen shots which were miscut. The end of my twins' feet are on the start of the next slide

 30 views and not one person have any feedback for me, be it positive, negative or just indifferent ? :(

if you want that, put them in the critique forum.

You can't expect people to offer much specific critique on so many photos. About the only comments would be on your overall style...which is still hard to do.

We appreciate that you are sharing your photos but if you want specific critique, post them one at a time in the critique forum. That way there can be a discussion about the photo without the confusion of other photos in the same thread.
