Sony A700 Remote Flash IR or slave?

I have the Sony A100 and I know that it triggers off camera flashes with the on board flash but does anyone know if the a700 is the same or does it use infared? I really hate having to trigger my flash with the onboard so I hope it does.

Actually they all use infrared. You'll find that even with the camera flash itself firing the slave unit is only sensitive to the infrared portion of the spectrum.

If the primary flash is bothering you grab an over exposed fully developed piece of negative film and cover the flash with it. The IR light will get through and trigger the slave.

... or manually set the off camera flash to it's lowest setting, that will work too.
