Speedlight help ??

Thank you very much for all of the responses. I get it now for the flash part and understand the reflector positioning.

I will try to take a few more photos in this location this weekend. I am going to try moving my reflector more to the other side and I will also try with my flash and see how that looks.

Still wondering why so much noise in the photos? Is it just the lens I'm using (Tamron 28-75 2.8), is it dirty? I will also try my 50mm 1.8 prime. It will definitely not be a close enough photo but maybe it will be more clear and I can crop. ISO 200 is the lowest my camera goes and that's where I was set. (OH and I just realized I mis-spoke in my original post about slowing shutter speed and closing down aperture, sorry if that confused my question)

Thoughts on using the Nikon kit lens 55-200 4-5.6 (but only using the 55-85 range) for people portraits, like in this instance?
