Speedlight SB-16 with Nikon D40X? Can it be done?

I have a Nikon D40X and I hate the on-camera flash.

I have a Speedlight SB-16 that I dearly loved with my old FE2.

Does anybody make an adapter so I can use this flash with my digital camera? (adapter for timing of flash.)
