Speedlight Sync Question

I have some speedlights i wanna use as strobes....my question is if I get A Pocket wizard transciever for my camera and a reciever for one of my speedlights would i be able to sync the second without a pocket wizard seeing as how the 580 can use other speedlights as slaves? or would i have problems? or would it be better to buy pocket wizards for both?

I (if I had the money, just use cacti)would go on the safe side and but another receaver. Or if cannon is anything nikon and you want to be like joe mcnally (who wouldnt?) you could get a strobe and have that on camera to trigger all the other slave flashes. But you might have to get a whole new setup. So I'd go for the wizard.

As far as if your idea would work I dont know really
