squirrelly little buggar

On the Kaibab Plateau, north rim of the Grand Canyon, lives the elusive Kaibab squirrel. We saw 2 of them (both times fleeing from us as we tromped through the woods) and I have a photo, but it's not very good.

These squirrels actually have tufted ears, and are larger than the common gray squirrel most of us are used to. They're very exotic looking. But they're damn hard to see, since they can hear you coming a mile off and prefer to hide, or run.

Cute little buggers up there, drdan - I just love them all! :D
