St Bees Lighthouse

On the cliff tops of the western-most tip of England's Cumbrian coast, this sturdy lighthouse shines over the Irish Sea. It was built in 1822 (to replace a structure of 1718), and the architect went for symmetry. So I did too.

Thanks Butterflygirl & Antarctican. This certainly is a very squat lighthouse, but it can be since it's at the top of 300 feet (100m) high cliffs. The other odd feature, as you noted Antarctican, is the very large glazed lantern where the light is housed. Or is that a normal sized lantern that only LOOKS big because it's on a much shorter than average lighthouse
