Stamp on the lens. How to decode it.

Im in the process of buying an L series lens for my canon. these lenses have a stamp on the metal part of mount. this stamp is a code for when the lens was produced. how do we figure out what that code means?

how do u know what the current numeration is?

the code on there is not a month and yr. u get like a 1214 on there
