Star magnolia, Chris?

The Chris in question is also known as "digital flower pictures" here and we met in New York while I was there and were discussing a bush that we have in our garden and that my husband claims is something else (though he is wavering, Chris ). This bush is in bloom now and I went out to take some photos just to get my idea confirmed by the expert that this is a star magnolia, indeed. Is it?

Corinna, I finally found this thread. These are great pictures. You are right it is a Star Magnolia (Magnolia stellata), sorry, Andreas. I have to go with #5 here, you know the bug adds some extra interest. Most definetly not a Laurel, which blooms more towards summer here.
