Hello everybody,

I like very much this city of Calcutta, & the people in this region are for me the most sympathic I know in India. I like the atmosphere & the messy streets ,the colour & the strong smells. Almost no place to visit in Calcutta compare to touristic cities inNorth. But just for its people it deserves to stay there a few days.

As already explained in my previous post, pictures taken with ( canon EOS 350 D+ Tamron 18-200 mm). I had at this time almost no idea of how to set my camera, many shoots taken in "Auto"mode, or " Portrait" mode or "Landscape", quite a shame for me now but at least it enables to limit the number of wasted pictures, so no regret.

All criticism & comment more than welcome, have a nice static trip ;) .

Matthieu

Hi

I think you have a great set here. I love #4 and #8 the most. Number 4 for it's overview of a neighberhood. Number 8 has a real nice contrast of the people rushing by and the vendor sitting there.

I hope to be able to visit India myself soon. I heard from friends visiting that it is a beautiful country with very friendly and welcoming people. I can't wait to pack my bags and go traveling again....

Are you now living in India or France?

#'s 2&6 are a bit on the dark side.....can you brighten the shadows?

Each shot depicts a different life style story of the country......well done!

I also look forward to visiting India in the future.

seemoo , asconpg thank for your comment
asconpg, you ar right light is not perfect on 2&6,

For n2 it is because I croped top part of the picture with a blinding sky and reflect on the water.
For n6, because I made autofocus on icecube, stupid mistake of beguiner

Good observation anyway

Yes go to India, of course!!!!
but be ready for the best & the worsth. People are friendly but depends a lot of the region and on the fact they are in touristic area or not.

Asconpg right now I am in France ( for Christmas only) but going back soon for 4 months to Taiwan.
bye

Mat....

I took the liberty of reworking #6 and if you like I will post it here with your approval.

Paul

I did not try to make your shot look better, only to lighten the area around the ice block.
There are other forum members with extensive knowledge of PS who can make this shot look spectacular. :D

Paul thanks a lot.
But really it is too much .... and really blinding for me ;)
White are completly overexposed ( I don't know whether it is the correct word in english or not, please tell me  )
I prefer original even if I agree it is too dark.

Anyway thank

Mat

Or this?

edit - Sorry, since Matthieu is perfectly fine with his shot I decided to remove my tweeked version.

I'm sorry, I couldn't help it and I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't liked the photo. I like this one very much. Sometimes I see a photo that is really good and my hands start itching to bring out the excellent photo that's under the haze of tiny errors...
If you don't like people messing with your photos please say so and I'll remove mine emidiately.

I like the whole series you posted here. Very good work. Nr8 is a bit out of focus, but the rest is excellent.

Btw, I have the same camera and bought the same Tamron 18-200 lens for it two weeks ago. I love the combination, how do you like yours?

Did you use my last rework to reduce the brightness??
And exactly what did you do??? I'm still learning and I'm sure that Mat would be interested also.

Yes, this is a very interesting and action packed shot Mat has captured. I knew that eventually someone with greater talents with PS would climb aboard! ;)

Ok, Mat I give up!

Is Jeron's attempt acceptable.....I need to know that what you see on your monitor is what I see.

Hey guys I am not specially talented to make this correction but I can do it with PS
I will try & post it here and explain you what I made :D
Mat

@acsonpg
No I didn't use your rework.
And to be honest I don't want to turn this thread into a PS workshop since I believe that to be a little disrespectfull to Matthieu's excellent photo series.
