I'd like to know if anyone has any recommendations for a book on lighting for portraits in the studio. I'm no stranger to lighting and such. I just want a good reference book with diagrams of lighting setups. So I don't need a lighting for dummies book.
Thanks.

I've been looking for the same thing! Still no luck. I check every book store and camera store I go to for a good one.

Look for "fashion" photography books.

I remember doing some research/reading on the net and I found lots of portrait lighting techniques under fashion.

I have a book from thr "Pro-Lighting " series that I have found to be quite good.

Okay this may help go to your local camera house or whatever and ask for every catalogue they have on flashes, these will contain many many illustrative techniques if you get the right ones and enough and they're all free.

If you're looking for some really great & creative stuff,
I'd recommend this book by Michael Grecco...

then there is one by Oscar Lozoya, which is very good, but not
as advanced like Grecco's techniques

Looks good, Walt. I have always stayed away from the glamour books but I am sure lighting is lighting but I always somehow thought that glamour lighting wouldn't work for a family portrait or children's portraiture.

There are a number of books in that series. The one I have is on portraits. If I remember correctly (I'm at work and can't check), this book has no glamour at all. It does have a good variety of setups and is clearly charted.

If you go further down the page of the link on my other post they have a number of different topics in the series listed.
