Studio Lighting

Can somebody teach me how lighting studio works exactly? what do the strobes do, whats the difference between umbrellas and softboxes, the key light ,the rim light and etc.
Or send me a video or a site that includes all of the above...
I am new to studio photography so i am trying to catch up
